About Ginsters

The company began in 1969 when Geoffrey Ginster began producing his own pasties from a site in Callington, Cornwall. We are now the Number 1 brand in Savoury Pastry and the Leading Sandwich Brand.  

Our product range has grown to encompass sausage rolls, pies, slices, sandwiches and wraps. Our latest innovation is H+EAT, bread dough packed with a range of delicious fillings that’s ready to eat after just 90 seconds in the microwave.

Our business

We are committed to using 100% British beef, chicken, pork, cheese and eggs in Ginsters products. Beyond this, we have a policy of sourcing from local farms wherever possible. Over 70% of our fresh vegetables and our fresh beef come from Cornwall. In addition, Ginsters use Westcountry cheeses from creameries such as Barbers and Davidstow and has supported local trials of milling wheat, in association with the Home Grown Cereals Authority, to provide that little bit extra 'Cornish' in our brand.

Our people

We employ over 800 people in the UK with the large majority based at our Callington Bakery, plus staff at our sales offices around the country. We are proud of our close teamwork and of the loyalty of our people: over 300 of our staff have been with Ginsters for more than ten years and over 50 people have been here 25 years plus. Our own tailored training packages develop the skills of our people needed in a modern food business, from craft bakery skills through to technical operators and the commercial skills required to service our customers.

Community & environment

We are heavily involved in supporting local causes and our long standing charities - CHICKS (Country Holidays For Inner City Kids), the Royal Voluntary Service and, the Prince’s Countryside Fund. Our green credentials include sending zero waste to landfill; being the first in the sector to switch to sustainable palm oil; and sending food waste from our bakery to an anaerobic digestion plant to generate green energy - the by product is used as fertiliser.
