Ginsters

Ginsters is the brand leader in the savoury pastry sector, with our original Cornish Pasty being the best-selling pasty in the country.

About Ginsters

The company began in 1969 when Geoffrey Ginster began producing his own pasties from a site in Callington, Cornwall. We are now the Number 1 brand in Savoury Pastry.

Ginsters is proud of its Cornish Heritage and is committed to only using the very best quality British ingredients.  We source our ingredients locally from Cornwall and the West Country, wherever possible, using local farms that in some instances are only 15 miles from our door.  Our flagship product, Ginsters Original Cornish Pasty – the Nation’s Favourite – has Protected Geographic Indication (PGI) status. It’s made with beef, potato, swede and onion with a dash of seasoning, wrapped in pastry and made in Cornwall. Do it any other way and it simply can’t be called a “Cornish” Pasty.  Our core lines encompass a range of Ginsters branded food to go products, including pasties, slices, sausage rolls, pork pies, buffet bars, scotch egg bars and sandwiches.

Our business

We are committed to using 100% British beef, chicken, pork, cheese and eggs in Ginsters products. Beyond this, we have a policy of sourcing from local farms wherever possible. The large majority of our fresh vegetables and our fresh beef come from Cornwall. In addition, Ginsters uses Westcountry cheeses and has supported local trials of milling wheat, in association with the Home Grown Cereals Authority, to provide that little bit extra 'Cornish' in our brand.

Our people

We employ over 500 people in the UK with the large majority based at our Callington Bakery, plus staff at our sales offices around the country. We are proud of our close teamwork and of the loyalty of our people. Our own tailored training packages develop the skills of our people needed in a modern food business, from craft bakery skills through to technical operators and the commercial skills required to service our customers.

Community & environment

Ginsters is proud of its support for the local community. We work closely with Callington Community College and run structured work experience programmes for students every year to give them a flavour of working in the food industry. We sponsor Callington Football Club and have recently provided funding through the Samworth Brothers Sports Opportunity Fund for the Plymouth Argyle Community Trust which uses football and sport as a platform to tackle issues such as anti-social behaviour and social inclusion in the Callington, Bodmin and Liskeard areas. At a national level we support the charity Royal Voluntary Service which helps to support older people in society to remain independent in their own homes.
