Samworth Brothers is planning a new, expanded Leicestershire distribution hub - that will be more than twice the size of its current facility - in the county.

Samworth Brothers Supply Chain (SBSC), the Group’s logistic business, has applied for planning permission to build a new 155,000 square foot distribution centre in Scudamore Lane on Leicester Distribution Park.

The plans include head office facilities for SBSC including a staff restaurant, plus an  expanded warehouse and distribution centre.  One new capability, if the plans are approved, is the ability to “blast freeze” products down to minus 20C, and “temper” them back to chill temperatures. It is hoped the new site will go operational in summer 2017.

Samworth Brothers Supply Chain Managing Director Paul Bennell said; “We serve all the Samworth Brothers businesses across Leicestershire. This proposed new distribution hub will extend our capacity locally and mean all of those businesses will have the capacity for further business growth.”
