Zero waste plan is a Platinum winner

Kettleby Foods, Blueberry Foods and Melton Foods have all recently been recognised for their outstanding waste reduction plans

Kettleby Foods, together with PH Hull & Sons, the Group’s recycling supplier, has won a Platinum Award at the recent Zero Waste Awards for its 4R plan (reduce, reuse, recycle, recover), while Blueberry Foods, a Gold for its work in this area.

Thanks to Kettleby’s 4R plan 62% of waste from the site is now recycled and 38% sent to generate energy, in turn saving over 2,876 tonnes of CO2.  Working with PH Hull & Sons and its supplier base, the plan is now implemented throughout the site’s supply chain.  Kettleby Foods also won ‘Environmental Initiative of the Year’ at the Food Manufacturer Awards last year for this plan.

Melton Foods is also celebrating after winning two more prestigious industry awards in partnership with its recycling partner, Veris Strategies.  It won the Collaboration and Engagement award at the EDIE Environmental & Energy Awards for its Cultivate initiative, and a Highly Commended at the National CSR Awards in the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle category.

The Cultivate initiative has helped to increase reuse and recycling at Melton Foods to over 70%, thanks to the introduction of 10 waste streams.  The site has also been recognised in these awards for motivating and engaging employees to get involved, as well as delivering a positive impact on the local community through reuse donations.
