Walker and Son water-saving project saves £64K

With the recent introduction of carbon desktop to our Walker Charnwood Bakery site we have been able to identify a number of opportunities to help us reduce water consumption. One of those opportunities was in the traywash area.

We installed a new water meter back in May 2017 which highlighted that the single line traywash machine was responsible for almost 25% of the sites usage of water.

An in-depth study and communication with the supplier allowed us to make a modification to the controls.
Previously the single line traywash machine was using an average of 76m3 per day, after modification it used 4m3 per day, resulting in a significant financial saving.
