Area Manager High Care

“I started at one of Samworth Brothers' sites in Leicester as a Production Operative / Relief Team Leader on the PM shift in Despatch. At this time the company had just launched its ambient cupcake line, which was a very challenging start to my career and an interesting learning process.
I joined a new team on the PM shift. To improve efficiency I decided to take a week course for a forklift driving licence and was the first female on site to undertake this type of training.

I was then promoted to PM shift DespatchTeam Leader. I was responsible for the whole department and for taking decisions when the Despatch Manager was not on site. At those times I was fully in charge of the area and gained the trust of the management team by being flexible, reliable, honest and hardworking.
During this time I helped improve the stock control system to reduce the amount of wastage of all finished products.  I also joined the Leadership and Management TLDP (Team Leader Development Programme), spending time in different areas of the business.  This included a month in the High Care department to increase my understanding of their daily tasks and issues. I built strong relationships with the High Care team which helped to increase efficiency between the High Care and Despatch departments.
Over Christmas 2013, I worked on a project with the Despatch Manager of Saladworks with Samworth Brothers Supply Chain to streamline despatch transport. We not only delivered a very successful Christmas for both our companies, we also built strong relationships with Samworth Brothers Distribution. In 2014 I was promoted to Despatch Trainee Area Manager for the AM and PM shift.

During this time, I helped to improve efficiencies and enhance people development, introducing a score card system for Despatch team Leaders and Operatives, which helped identify gaps as well as discover great talents within our team. In 2015 I was promoted to Area Manager Despatch.
However, after six and a half years in despatch I knew that it was time for a change so I joined the High Care department.   No day is the same, we don’t stop but are developing constantly. I feel that I am getting stronger and more ambitious every day and with all senior management support, help and training, I am sure I will develop more and my growth will continue."
