About Us

In 1969, Geoffrey Ginster began producing his own pasties from a site in Callington, Cornwall. This business grew steadily until the Ginsters van sales fleet were selling pasties and savouries across the south of England.

In 1977 we were acquired by Samworth Brothers who saw the potential for developing Ginsters into a national brand. Investments were made in improved production facilities and in building distribution with national retailers. We have now grown to become one of the biggest chilled food brands in the country. Our most famous product, Ginsters Original Cornish Pasty, is now the biggest selling line in the £1 billion Chilled Savoury Snacks market and our Lynher Bakery now produces over three million savoury pastries a week.

Our fleet of 150 vehicles based at sales offices across the country, deliver to motorway service stations, forecourts, convenience stores and food service customers. Our Ginsters brand is also the leader in major high street multiples, delivered by Samworth Brothers' own distribution service.

We have won numerous industry awards for our innovative approach, and are a previous winner of Management Today’s UK Food Company of the Year.

As members of the Cornish Pasty Association, we successfully campaigned to give the Cornish Pasty Protected Geographic Indication (PGI) status. This means that Cornish Pasties have to be made in Cornwall to specific guidelines.
