The Fund was founded by HRH, The Prince of Wales to help ensure a sustainable future for rural Britain. In the five years since its inception, the Fund has distributed over £6 million in grants to 135 projects benefiting 160,000 people living and working in rural communities.

Samworth Brothers has been a supporter of the Fund since it was launched participating in projects such as a current one at Duchy College in Cornwall, part funded by The Prince’s Countryside Fund and supported by Ginsters, which aims to get young talented people into food and drink industry.

Mark Duddridge commented; “It is tremendous that The Prince’s Countryside Fund has reached this five year milestone and it is doing outstanding work to support the rural economy.  At Samworth Brothers we are very much part of the rural economy through our own businesses in rural Leicestershire and Cornwall and our suppliers, many of whom are based in rural areas. This close association with the countryside means we already see at close hand how innovation and new approaches can help rural economies thrive.”  Earlier this year the Samworth Brothers Rural Action Award also recognised successful rural businesses, as part of the Business in the Community Awards.
