Samworth Brothers savoury pastry business Ginsters helped bring the joys of Christmas to 16 disadvantaged children by sponsoring the Christmas break at their Tywardreath retreat in Cornwall.
CHICKS a children’s charity close to the Ginsters Bakery in Cornwall was formed in 1992 and is in their 25th year. The charity provides free respite breaks throughout the year for disadvantaged children living in the UK.
Relying heavily on voluntary donations CHICKS were delighted when Ginsters - who has been providing financial support to CHICKS for many years - offered to sponsor the Christmas break.

Robert Gofton, Chief Executive of CHICKS, said “All our breaks are special but the Christmas breaks are even more so, and we are so grateful to Ginsters for making it possible for another group of disadvantaged children this year. The support we have received from Ginsters over the years has been truly phenomenal, helping us reach out to a huge number of disadvantaged children, and by sponsoring the Christmas break they are making a very real difference to children living in incredibly difficult circumstances.”
The break allows the children to relax and enjoy an extra special Christmas with all the traditional festivities, as well as partake in a whole host of fun activities, including visiting Santa at the Eden Project and watching the Hall for Cornwall pantomime. Ginsters Development Chefs also ran a pasty making session which went down a Cornish treat with the children.

Jo Hartop, Head of Communications at Ginsters said, “We know the importance of the CHICKS Christmas breaks in providing much needed respite for the children at this time of year. We are delighted that our support is able to bring some happiness and joy to the children that attend”.
This is the sixth year CHICKS has hosted a Christmas break with the charity hoping to give hundreds more children a special week away.
