Two Cornish Greats Collaborate

Ginsters teams up with Cornish chef, Chris Eden

Ginsters  has teamed up with a Cornish born restaurant Head Chef, Chris Eden, in a new food partnership.

Chris, who achieved a Michelin star in Cornwall in 2011, is working alongside Ginsters’ team of development chefs including Head Chef Graham Cornish on some exciting new developments for the brand.  The first of these is a new Mexican Chilli Beef savoury slice which will be sold in Tesco stores nationwide from 6th November 2017.

This new collaboration with Chris is part of Ginsters’ mission to develop a range of new products reflecting the very latest food trends with a Cornish twist.

Chris’s inspiration for the new Mexican Chilli Beef slice came following a family visit to a Cornish tin mine.  The slice celebrates Cornwall’s rich mining heritage and the many Cornish miners who emigrated to Mexico in the 1800s to mine for silver.

The savoury slice is a rich fusion of Mexican and South American flavours including Mexican ancho chilli and smoked paprika which combine to create a taste explosion on the tip of the tongue.  A blend of dark black treacle and cocoa then smooths off the intensity to give a deep, rich, fragrant taste throughout the slice.

Ginsters Managing Director, Kieran Hemsworth says, “What struck us when we met Chris was our shared values and passion for creating great tasting recipes.  Chris creates a small number of dishes in his fine dining restaurant every day, and we bake millions of savoury pastry products every week in our bakery in Cornwall, but we are equally as passionate about crafting our recipes. Chris, working alongside our team of highly skilled development chefs, is helping to craft new flavours and tastes reflecting the latest food trends.”
