“I joined Samworth Brothers as a Process Technologist immediately after graduating in July 2008. I had gained a first class degree in Food Science from the University of Reading.
Projects I have been involved in include high profile launches for some of our retailer customers and developing the tooling to deliver new Ginsters ranges.
In 2014 I was promoted to Process Development Manager. In this role, I was involved in the scale up operation of new products, from hand assembly in the test kitchen by New Product Development chefs to full production in the bakery. I was also involved in optimising the production process of new products and ensuring they met the necessary food safety and quality standards.
I was promoted to QA Manager in 2015 and now have six technical leaders reporting to me who provide 24-hour technical cover for the bakery and ensure we produce safe and legal products to the required quality standards.
In the eight years that I’ve been with Samworth Brothers, I have been on a variety of training courses, including a Bakery Management Development programme, advanced food hygiene and advanced HACCP (food safety) courses, as well as our Group’s Platinum programme for managers.
I have also taken part in the Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge three times now but, so far, have never finished in the top three!”
