Responding to the growing trend for vegetarian, food-to-go products, Ginsters has introduced two new products – Moroccan Vegetable Pasty and Cornish Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Pasty – both developed in conjunction with Cornish Head Chef Chris Eden.
The Ginsters Moroccan Vegetable Pasty combines a wide variety of exotic ingredients, many of which are new to the Ginsters repertoire. Butternut squash, chickpeas, roasted red piquillo peppers and red harissa paste blend together to form the base of the vegetarian pasty. The contrast of rich spice with the sweetness of tangy fruits such as golden apricots and dates creates a perfectly balanced flavour combination. The heat of spice comes from the Moroccan chermoula paste containing aromatic cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper.
For a modern twist on a classic flavour combination, the Cheddar Cheese & Caramelised Onion Pasty is blend of Cornish extra mature Cheddar, combined with sweet and tender caramelised onions, spring onions and a hint of wholegrain mustard.
Ginsters Managing Director, Kieran Hemsworth says, “We are passionate about ensuring the pasty remains as modern and relevant to today’s consumers as it ever has. More than a third of evening meals now contain no meat at all and we’re on a mission to respond to this consumer demand, introducing the latest food trends that deliver on maximum flavour as we continue to grow the food-to-go category.”
The brand has also introduced two new products, both with less than 375 calories. The Ginsters Katsu Chicken Slice has 370 calories and the Ginsters Piri Piri Chicken Slice contains just 349 calories.
Ginsters Katsu Chicken Slice, with 370 calories, has a fragrant blend of creamy coconut milk with sweet spring onions and a hint of garlic in a Katsu curry sauce, made with 100% British chicken. The perfect balance of cumin, turmeric, ginger and coconut pack this latest recipe full of flavour.
The Ginsters Piri Piri Chicken Slice contains just 349 calories and combines 100% British chicken marinated with a rich and spicy tomato sauce, smoked paprika, lemon zest and sun dried tomato puree. The sauce is finished with a warm hint of chipotle chilli, which enhances the smoky depth of the slice. A mixture of punchy paprika, chilli spices and citrus notes help transport you to a Portuguese sun terrace.
