On Wednesday 8 August, Ginsters of Cornwall is calling all Londoners to escape the city fast lane and savour the summer heatwave at its inaugural BIG Cornish picnic on the Southbank. That can only mean one thing… lots of pasties!
The nation’s favourite pasty producer will be arriving in style with Cornwall’s most-loved export, the Cornish pasty, alongside Ginsters range of pastry slice innovations developed in collaboration with acclaimed Cornish Head Chef, Chris Eden. Ginsters will be serving a proper taste of Cornwall on the Southbank – but it doesn’t stop there…
For one day only, between 11am to 4pm, Londoners will be immersed in the sound, taste, smell and atmosphere of Cornwall as a multi-sensory experience, and there is just one rule… no rushing allowed.
Transported from city to coast, visitors can listen to Cornish soundtracks on personal wireless headsets. Recorded at iconic Cornwall beaches, sounds of the Atlantic waves and Cornish seagulls will enable visitors to slow down, kick back on picnic blankets and enjoy lunch on Ginsters!
Chris Eden comments: ‘Like Ginsters, I’m Cornish through and through. It’s been incredibly rewarding working with their team to develop on-trend fillings such as the Ginsters Mexican Chilli Beef Slice and Cornish Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Pasty. It’s all about combining maximum flavour whilst always proudly nodding back to our Cornish roots.

Those who can’t make it to the Southbank can still get involved on the day. Ginsters is launching its #TweetForACornishEat competition, giving one office in central London the chance to win their lunch on Ginsters. Details will be announced on Twitter from 1 August 2018.
