British Pie Awards Triumphs In Its 10th Year

Congratulations to Walker & Son and West Cornwall Pasty Co. who both topped their classes at this year’s British Pie Awards. It is the second year running that Walker & Son claimed class Champion in the Pork Pie 2018 class, for their Walkers Fluted Pork Pie 440g. West Cornwall Pasty Co. was also crowned champion in their respective Pasty Champion 2018 class, for their Panang Thai Chicken Pasty.

The British Pie Awards are a national celebration of British pies in all their varieties … 21 varieties to be exact! The awards have been running for ten years and celebrate the British love affair with pies, whether it’s savoury, sweet, hot or cold millions are consumed in the UK every year.

Mrs Kings Pork Pies and Walker & Son also enjoyed Highly Commended success in the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie – Class one, with Walker & Son also in the Beef & Ale Pie – Class five.

This year’s awards saw a record number of entries giving the judging panel 963 quality pies to review. There was a growth in the Vegetarian, Free from, Gluten Free, and Vegan pies classes. West Cornwall Pasty won Silver for their Quorn Pasty and Bronze for the Mediterranean Vegetable Pasty, whilst Walker & Son also received Bronze for their Sweet Potato & Feta Pie, both in the vegetarian class.
