Samworth Brothers is launching a new Degree Apprenticeship programme to help develop its leaders of the future across operational and technical functions. The three-year programme is being run in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, with the first recruits starting in September 2018.
Successful applicants will work across a minimum of three different businesses during three one year placements at Samworth Brothers sites.
The practical learning gained through the placements will be underpinned by the theoretical learning provided by Sheffield Hallam University. Apprentices will be fully supported and funded in their studies by Samworth Brothers.
During the programme apprentices within the operational functions will be working towards a Chartered Manager Degree (BA Hons) qualification. Technical apprentices will study with Sheffield Hallam University to gain a degree (BSc) in Food Science and will also complete three one-year technical based work placements.
Samworth Brothers Group Executive Director Paul Davey said; “At Samworth Brothers we encourage a culture of opportunity and learning where our staff can gain skills and qualifications to achieve their full potential. We already have many apprentices across our businesses plus successful graduate and industrial placement schemes. This new Degree Apprenticeship adds another important dimension to our training and development offer. It will be a quality programme that will enable our degree apprentices to develop the skills and capabilities they need to develop their careers and also help provide our business with the highly trained workforce it needs for the future.”
