“After studying an electronics degree in Italy, I moved to Leicester in 2016 and joined Melton Foods in 2017 as an operative in the prep department. My manager recognised I had the ambition and ability to progress, and I was promoted to Team Leader the following year.
Day to day, as Off line Team Leader, I support my Area Manager to ensure the shift runs as smoothly as possible. For example, I manage and prioritise the daily workload in the three areas of salad, ingredient preparation and line supply. I am responsible for around 40 production operatives and every day we need to achieve the KPIs within all preparation areas that have been set by the business. I also have to report on how we have met these targets. In this job, every single day is different and brings with it new challenges!
One of the interesting projects I have been involved with recently was a project to change the layout of one of the preparation areas to reduce potential waste and help operations run more smoothly. There’s another interesting project coming up that will involve me working with the IT department which I’m really looking forward to.
I am very proud to have been nominated recently by members of Melton foods for a Value award. This means a great deal to me as it proves that the job I am doing has been recognised by my colleagues.
I love new challenges, so I have set my sights on being the head of department one day. The great thing about Samworth Brothers is they always invest in people when they recognise the potential and they will help you realise your ambitions. People are, and always have been, the most important thing for Samworth Brothers and we all have the feeling that we are one family.
If you’ve got passion and a drive to succeed, you can really go places here. It’s a great company to work for.”
