 Job Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Safety, Health & Environment Manager, the Machinery Safety Specialist’s primary role will be delivering, over a 6 Month period, a full review and action plan against both Deli and Sausage’s machinery holdings regarding legal compliance to the Provision and Use of Work Equipment regulations (PUWER).

This will include assessing existing PUWER risk assessments for legal compliance and effectiveness (including assessing Performance Level (PL) requirements), identifying where assessments need to be produced for legacy equipment and completing said risk assessments.

The principal Accountabilities will include: –

•  Have responsibility for ensuring Walkers Deli and Sausage sites are legally compliant against the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) by carrying out PUWER assessments including an assessment of the Performance Level (PL) of the equipment.
• Supporting in identifying the most cost-effective way of upgrading equipment where required.
• Providing a point of expertise for purchasing new equipment to ensure that supplier responsibilities are met, and new equipment is fully compliant when first put into use.
• Advising on the most cost-effective way of upgrading legacy equipment where applicable and monitoring progress with assessments and actions.
• Ensure that processes for purchasing new equipment are clearly understood by the key stakeholders and the supplier risks are discharged and not transferred to Samworth Brothers.
• Ensure Walkers Deli and Sausage sites are using the Samworth Brothers Machinery User Requirement Specifications and that processes for introducing new equipment into the business are robust and sustainable.
• Provide periodic management information reference the progress of the programme and the upgrades and cost estimates to the site Senior Team.
