An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Process Development Department.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the legality, safety and quality of new and existing products.
Responsibilities within the role will include:
Introduction of new products or implementing changes to existing products into the business using trial data.
To become a subject matter expert by attending suppliers and key centers of excellence to gain a thorough understanding of dairy based Raw Materials and how these impact on final products; knowledge to be cascaded to the wider business.
Ensuring new product trial samples are collected and distributed as required for travel tests, organoleptic, micro & nutritional testing etc.
Working closely with the other departments on raw materials to identify cost saving opportunities and product or process quality improvements, ensuring that where possible gross margins are maintained or improved from kitchen handover to launch
Producing scale up recipes and methods and communicating these effectively to the bakery and gaining approval
Organizing and carrying out bakery trials on new product development, managing the critical path from NPD new product handover though to product launch.
Ensuring that new products are scaled up to bakery requirements and manufactured efficiently and effectively.
To collate all relevant trial information for the production of customer specifications, internal specifications, standard operating procedures and photo standard documents prior to launch.
To work closely with members of the process team co-ordinating the internal set up of all pre-productions and launches prior to customer visits.
To complete weekly departmental tasks to assist in the smooth running of the department.
The successful person will need to be a self-starter with good project management skills with the ability to work under pressure, be flexible to work around the needs of the business, and have good attention to detail
An excellent communicator to ensure effective cross functional working and ‘One Team’ approach.
A qualification in a food science related discipline would be advantageous, together with previous experience in a Technologist role.
