The Role

The successful Distribution Operative will be responsible for processing finished goods from packing, picking, to loading vehicles. Day to day responsibilities will include;

  • Operating material handling equipment (MHE) (pallet trucks and hand pump trucks) and moving pallets to designated locations using MHE
  • Wrapping pallets using pallet wrapping machines
  • Operating box erecting machines & operating packing robots
  • Checking temperatures and logging results as well as carrying out visual product quality checks
  • Packing and picking (using picking gun), palletising
  • Lifting, operating metal detection/check weigher machine
  • Blast chilling products
  • Filling vehicles with pallets of products
  • This is a physical position, involving manual lifting

The Successful Individual

To be successful in the role, you will have the following required skills and experience;

  • Experience gained in a similar role is desirable but not essential as training will be given
  • Experience of working accurately in a fast paced environment, meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to understand, operate and drive machinery. A Fork Lift Truck Licence would be desirable but not essential
  • The ability to comply with strict working instructions such as adherence to Safe Systems of Work and Health & Safety rules
  • Ability to speak, read and write clearly in English as well as good numeracy skills (you must be able to pass entry numeracy and literacy tests)
