AWARD-WINNING QUALITY AT THE MELTON & BELVOIR CHRISTMAS FATSTOCK SHOW
Award-winning quality at the Melton & Belvoir Christmas Fatstock Show
The New Product Development (NPD) team at Walker & Son, alongside colleagues from Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, have been outstandingly successful at this year’s Melton & Belvoir Agricultural Society Christmas Fatstock Show, a long-standing local competition held in Melton Mowbray.
The teams entered across multiple classes, continuing a tradition of taking part in the show and celebrating the craft behind Melton Mowbray pork pies. This year’s results were particularly special, with Samworth Brothers Savoury Pastry brands sweeping the board and reclaiming top honours after several years.
Highlights included first, second and third place finishes across multiple categories, including Best Two 454g Melton Mowbray Pork Pies, Best Two 907g Pork Pies, and Best Single Commercial Pork Pies. One hoop-raised pork pie was awarded a perfect score of 100 points, with judges commenting that it was “the perfect pie”.
The Specialty Pie class also saw strong results, showcasing creativity alongside technical skill, with festive and innovative entries recognised by the judges.
Behind the trophies sits a great deal of teamwork. From colleagues producing bases, pastry and fillings in the bakery, to NPD teams crafting and baking the final entries, these results reflect shared pride in quality, heritage and collaboration.
