Energising our Energy Champions across Samworth Brothers
Colleagues across Samworth Brothers recently came together for an intensive two-day Energy Champions workshop, focused on building capability and accelerating action on energy efficiency and decarbonisation.
The aim was simple yet powerful: to share best practices, strengthen skills and give colleagues the confidence and tools to drive meaningful improvements at site level. By bringing together engineers, operations leaders, maintenance specialists and sustainability colleagues, the workshop created a space for practical learning and open collaboration.
A key focus of the session was how effective energy management depends on three things working together: people, systems and technology. Our Group Energy Manager, Simon, opened discussions around building a network of energy champions, improving how energy is measured and managed using reliable data, and identifying practical ways to optimise existing equipment, while planning for lower-carbon options in the future.
What stood out most was the collective expertise in the room. Colleagues shared real experiences from their sites, explored new tools and frameworks, and challenged each other to think differently about how energy decisions are made day to day. The next step is turning insight into action, and action into measurable results, supporting our wider climate ambitions and Sustainability commitments.
