COLLEAGUES FROM SAMWORTH BROTHERS TEAM UP WITH LEICESTERSHIRE CARES TO TRANSFORM A LOCAL DEMENTIA CENTRE’S OUTDOOR SPACE

At Samworth Brothers, we believe community isn’t just about where we are, it’s about how we show up. And recently, that belief came to life in the heart of Leicester.

Over the course of two brilliant days, around 25 colleagues from Walker & Son and Bradgate Bakery joined forces with Leicestershire Cares to give the memory garden at Holmfield Dementia Daycare Centre a well-deserved refresh. With brushes, spades, and big smiles at the ready, they transformed the space into something colourful, calm, and full of life.

The team painted sheds, benches and pergolas, replanted flower beds, and even repaired the garden’s replica bus stop, a popular spot for residents living with dementia. What may have started as a few hours of volunteering quickly became something much more meaningful: a reminder of the power of teamwork, care and connection.

Volunteer Diane summed it up perfectly:

“We had such a fantastic couple of days at Holmfield. It was all hands-on deck – painting, planting, and plenty of laughs. Seeing the garden come to life and the smiles on residents’ faces made it all so worthwhile.”

Projects like this are a powerful reminder that giving time can be just as valuable as giving money. And when people come together with a shared purpose, whether that’s building a garden or simply having a chat, it creates something lasting.

We’re incredibly proud of our colleagues who gave their time, energy and heart to support Holmfield and the wider Leicester community.
