FROM LEICESTER TO THE FAST LANE: DRIVING FOR FORMULA 1

From Leicester to the Fast Lane: Driving for Formula 1
Two of our youngest Samworth Brothers Supply Chain drivers, Aidan and Adam, have taken their passion for driving onto one of the world’s biggest sporting stages – transporting equipment for Formula 1 teams across Europe.
Both from Leicester, Aidan and Adam first met through the Samworth Academy, where Adam mentored Aidan as he began his driving career. Their shared journey has turned into both a close friendship and an incredible professional experience.
Adam first discovered Formula 1 logistics while driving for Stobart’s, later joining Samworth Brothers in 2021. He began delivering equipment for teams including Williams, Mercedes, Alpine and Pirelli – a role he’s now held for almost five years. Inspired by his mentor, Aidan joined him last year and has already completed two trips on the circuit.
The work is demanding and highly precise. Each driver is responsible for transporting valuable equipment such as tyres, car parts and even dismantled cars between race venues. Deadlines are strict – everything must arrive on time for practice sessions – so trucks are often double-manned to ensure safe, continuous driving across Europe.
Between them, Aidan and Adam have delivered to circuits across the continent, including Austria, Hungary, Portugal, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, and Monaco. Along the way, they’ve created lasting memories: Adam recalls breathtaking views from Monaco’s harbour en route to Barcelona, while Aidan’s highlight has been the legendary atmosphere at Monza in Italy.
Their story reflects the opportunities available for skilled drivers looking to extend their experience in the industry – from gaining a Class C+E licences through our Academy to driving on the most prestigious high-profile sporting stage in the world.
