COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY FUND SUPPORTS CARADON GIG CLUB
Community Opportunity Fund Supports Caradon Gig Club
Last year, the Samworth Brothers Community Opportunity Fund awarded £16,959 to Caradon Gig Club to support its ambition to grow junior participation in Cornish pilot gig rowing.
The funding enabled the club to purchase a new Glass Reinforced Plastic boat known as a GRP gig, lightweight oars designed for younger rowers, seat cushions and essential safety equipment. These resources have given the club the capacity to expand opportunities for young people and develop its junior membership programme.
Caradon Gig Club identified a need to attract more young members to support the club’s long-term future and help more local young people experience the physical, mental and social benefits of taking part in sport.
The project provides a safe and supportive environment where young people can build their confidence, improve their fitness and develop teamwork skills, while encouraging greater participation in the local community.
