SAMWORTH BROTHERS SUPPORT TAMAR VALLEY COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATION SCHEME

29/04/2025

We’re proud to share that The Cornwall Bakery, part of Samworth Brothers, is now home to the first of five new community defibrillator units, launched as part of the Tamar Valley Community Defibrillation Scheme. The unit will provide vital emergency support for residents, colleagues, and nearby businesses in Callington.

This initiative ensures that, in the event of a life-threatening emergency, the ambulance service can direct callers to their nearest defibrillator – providing critical help while paramedics are en-route. It’s a small but important step in making emergency care more accessible in the moments it matters most.

The defibrillator was officially unveiled on Thursday 10 April, with colleagues from The Cornwall Bakery joined by representatives from Callington Lions and the scheme’s organisers, including Peter Salisbury, who is leading the project.

In the coming months, we hope to offer defibrillator training to colleagues and their families as part of our Active Workplace scheme – encouraging more people to feel confident using this life-saving equipment if needed.

This is just the start. An initial five defibrillator units will be installed across Callington, with further installations planned across the Tamar Valley. Samworth Brothers is committed to supporting this scheme as it grows, offering support to ensure it reaches as many people as possible.
