“My Supply Chain Warehouse Level 2 apprenticeship is enabling me to strike an excellent balance between working and learning. I really enjoy the energy that learning new things brings me and I value the support that my coaches and lecturers give me.
The programme teaches me all kinds of subjects relating to Supply Chain, including health and safety; Microsoft Excel; basic food hygiene and safety; the use of MHE (Materials Handling Equipment) aids such as scissor lifts and reach lift trucks; the importance of responsibilities in the warehouse; and supply chain partnerships.
I’m also following modules in English and Maths – this helps me when, for example, I’m writing emails or investigating stock losses – and I’m enhancing both my technical and my leadership skills.
During the course of my working week, I can be tasked with anything from stock takes, dealing with pick discrepancies, returns to suppliers, stock investigations and much more. It is totally varied and depends on the nature of the actual working day. I also work with other departments like planning, transport and customer service to organise returns, and to support them with new projects and on-time delivery.
Once I have gained my qualification, I would love to explore a role in either planning, transport or customer service. I’d also like to progress to the Level 3 qualification. I’ve really embraced the learning journey I am on. Yes, it’s hard work but learning new skills is fun and helps me bring new competencies to my daily job.”
