Stock Control Supervisor
Location:Leicester
“I passed my 30-month Supply Chain Warehouse Level 2 apprenticeship in November 2021 with distinction. During the time I was on the programme, I was promoted from my original role of Stock Controller to Stock Controller Team Leader and then, subsequently, to Stock Control Supervisor.
In this current supervisor role, a typical week can involve me in anything from investigating stock inventory discrepancies to dealing with mass recalls to our bakeries, or assisting with system issues when orders don’t go through correctly. One of the things I enjoy the most about my job is that no two days are ever the same.
The apprenticeship taught me a great deal about supply chain, health and safety and the correct and safe usage of MHE (Materials Handling Equipment). We also learned about subjects including food hygiene and customer service, as well as functional skills such as Maths and English. All the formal learning was on-site – either tutors came here to Oak Meadow or we had Teams video calls.
As well as this varied programme of learning, we also had the opportunity to find out about other areas of the Samworth Brothers business which I found very helpful. Not only has this apprenticeship enabled me to learn some valuable skills specific to stock control, it has also given me more confidence in my Maths and English. But the icing on the cake has to be that it has already helped me advance my career. ”
