“Prior to joining Samworth Brothers I held various finance roles outside food manufacturing, these included a paper distributor and a pipe manufacturer. Finance was always my passion so, in my first role, I started studying AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians). This was quickly followed by CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants). I qualified shortly after joining Samworth Brothers in 2013.
I started my current role in September 2020. Before that I worked at two other Samworth Brothers businesses, Walkers Deli & Sausage Co and Saladworks, progressing from Assistant Accountant to Finance Manager in that time.
We are a very small team here at Revolution Kitchen, which is our plant-based manufacturing business. I manage the day-to-day side of finance activities such as daily, weekly and monthly reporting. I also get to support and drive the strategic direction of the business. This includes extending our capabilities, building our culture and creating our brand, along with driving the financial performance.
Samworth Brothers has been instrumental in helping me achieve the role I’m now in. Back in 2016, I was selected for the Leadership Development Programme. This involved a number of different modules which taught me many new skills such as self-perception, effective coaching, and leading a team. This really helped me in my role, because, as well as being responsible for all aspects of Revolution Kitchen’s finances, I am also responsible for mentoring and developing a team.
For me, the best thing about working for Samworth Brothers is the culture. All the sites have a great atmosphere and a family feel. There are also all manner of opportunities to move around the group and to progress so, for anyone thinking about joining Samworth Brothers, my advice would be to go ahead and apply. We take pride, we make things happen and we are a family.”
